Here is another of Hugo's epics. At a quick glance it looks like a whole lot of mess with a few clear subjects. But the weird and cool thing about technology is that it allows us to employ tactics that can reveal more to a story told in images. Like ghost-like plumes of smoke or glares of light in a dull photograph, this painting by Hugo hides a lot of its real message. Of course, this is said not as if he had planned it this way, but just as a reference to a discovery we came about as we were uploading the photo of the work and tried to apply a filter to improve its viewing quality. Observe below the outcome:
Although the sketch lines are the same, applying a contrast between a black background and neon colors, the piece is able to offer a much more cohesive storyline of an "alien" world gone mad. There is a sense of alternate personalities of the figures in a much more action-driven context. What do you see?
