Hugo was about three years old when one night while visiting family he broke away from all the other kids and went looking for something. He had the sudden urge to draw. Perhaps because he had found a small marker and naturally concluded that it had to be put to use.
He searched and searched but found nothing in the form of appropriate drawing paper. But instead of opting to just forget about it (drawing on the wall would have had severe consequences) he had a brilliant idea...the restroom is full of blank paper to draw on! So he went and got a 1 & 1/3 ft strip of toilet paper and began to draw. The rest is still historizising as we speak.
The spectacular thing about this drawing is that it is an entire world onto its own...maybe even universe. There is so much going on in it. It was clear that, given that he had never had experience painting or drawing at that level, he had a gift. An imagination that countered the terrifying seizures which struck him frequently, paralysing him and those around him.
